Cellular Biology

Cellular biochemistry and biological activity represents the foundational action of all life. Animal biochemical activity (metabolism) produces an acid residue which is a natural byproduct. As each cell performs its many tasks to support life, an end result is cellular metabolic waste (acid). In short, these acids are natural byproducts of biological activity. An expellant example of biological waste is the lactic acid produced by muscles during exercise. The body must go to great lengths to neutralize the toxic properties of these acids before they act as poisons and successfully change the natural chemical balance of the cellular environment.

While it is true, most clinical practitioners believe that the immune system is the body's first line of defense, it could be more accurately described as a very sophisticated clean-up service system. If we are seriously about achieving and maintaining optimal health, we must look at the importance of internal biochemical pH balance as not only a primary indicator of toxic accumulation but the first line defense system against illness, and disease as well as a pathway to optimal health.

Proper internal biochemical pH balance fosters an environment of optimum biological performance, optimal health and a hostile environment for spontaneous pathogenic proliferation. Fungus, yeast and bacteria are microbial life forms which inhabit the water, soil, air, and are essentially ubiquitous in nature and are present in nearly all things consumed as well as in the body. Many of these microorganisms are more highly developed than the intermediate states of bacteria or the early stages of viruses. Over the years, they have mutated into over 500,000 different species. Many posses incredible adaptive capabilities which could be accurately described as opportunists and/or master survivalists. Most are constantly seeking out new ways to adapt, colonize and proliferate. When colonized, they can begin to cause biological stress illness and disease.

Pathogens like fungus, bacteria, and virus tend to colonize in very select locations in the body, depending on their particular nutritional requirements and colonization conditions. Fungal infections are capable of causing severe fermentation through the toxic by-products of metabolism, which makes them potentially extremely damaging to our health. They generally enter the extra cellular fluid and/or the bloodstream which provides transportation throughout the body. This pathogenic microbial proliferation contributes tremendously to the over-acidification of the blood and/or tissues which poisons and destroys cells throughout the body. This condition is called acute acidosis and is a direct result of unhealthy behavior and consumptive habits such as consuming a standard American diet (SAD). The SAD consumptive habit is abundant in animal based protein (especially red meat and pork), dairy products (milk, cheese, ice cream), sugar in any form (sucrose, fructose, glucose). Because of these facts, it is said that, there is only one sickness and one disease, (acidosis). There is however thousands of different so-called diseases (symptoms) all of which are produced by a single disease acute acidosis/toxemia.

The primary source of nourishment for most pathogens is SUGAR. As these organisms feed off the sugar and proteins of our bodies they excrete waste called toxins. These toxins negatively affect us physically, emotionally, and in many other ways. The solution to this toxic build-up problem is to cleanse the blood (detoxify) and nourish the cells. The proper way to do this is by eliminating those foods which are acid forming, instead consuming foods that are alkaline forming. Pathogenic microorganisms can only survive in an acid environment, not in an alkaline environment. It is extremely important that we consume a proper ratio between acid an alkaline forming foods. The ideal ratio in a normal body is 4 parts alkaline to 1 part acid which will help the body maintain a healthier slightly alkaline pH range. It is believed that the perfect internal biochemical pH is 7.365.

To avoid a timely chemistry lesson, I will summarize as follows. pH refers to the relative concentration of Hydrogen (H+) ions in solution. Low pH values indicate higher concentrations of Hydrogen ions or acids, and high pH values indicate low concentrations of Hydrogen ions or alkaline. pH 7.0 is pH neutral. pH 4.0-7.0 is acidic and pH 7.0-10.0 is alkaline.

An ideal optimal health diet should consist of at least 75% of a variety of dark green leafy and other assorted raw, fresh, organic if possible vegetables, sprouted grains, nuts, essential fatty acids and abundant liquids to wash away the toxic residue of life's biochemical activity. Adopting these consumptive habits will reduce the susceptibility to internal biochemical toxic waste accumulation, provide ample detoxification, and reduce or prevent premature biological degradation (rapid aging) and allow for cellular robust regeneration leading to "optimal health" and "vitality."

Now that you have been exposed to the true facts about natural biochemical activity, pH and internal biochemical balance, I hope it is easier to understand, if you keep your internal biochemistry in balance, the likely hood of the onset of any degenerative condition (rapid aging, illness and/or disease) is very unlikely.

The important thing to remember is consumptive habits (foods) will form the foundation of either optimal health or illness and disease. The old saying "you are what you eat" is absolutely true when it comes to health.

Developing strong personal character (respect, belief, knowledge, discipline, commitment) are the cornerstones of all personal excellence accomplishments.
