Total Internal Body Cleansing (Detoxifying)

Optimal health has been described as the most valuable possession in life. All valuable possessions require some measure of diligence to acquire and maintain, optimal health is no different. In fact, optimal health requires considerable diligence especially when living in an ever increasing toxic environment. The human body is a very complicated biological machine. Rapid biological degradation, illness, disease and associated symptoms are the byproduct of toxic buildup at the cellular level and/or malnutrition which is usually one of the byproduct of toxic buildup as well.  

The process of toxic accumulation is much like accounting, the rate of outgoing toxins must be equal to or greater than incoming toxins or toxic accumulation will occur. There are many ways to mediate and manage toxic accumulation such as developing healthy consumptive and lifestyle habits, which lowers the amount of incoming toxins and increases the amount of outgoing toxins. Another extremely effective way is internal cleansing (detoxifying), which increases toxin evacuation. Regular internal cleansing serves to mediate toxic accumulation which lowers or eliminates the foundational cause thus the symptoms of illness and disease. Remember, eliminating toxic accumulation is one of the best ways to decrease the chances of developing illness and disease.

The following information explains how to perform an effective internal body cleanse. While this is not the only way, it is one of the best ways to detoxify the body, restore biological balance, synergy and stem the tide of the onset of illness and disease. The degree of toxic accumulation will be in direct proportion to not only a persons ability to mediate the accumulation but the development of illness and disease. Clearly, the more toxins present the more cleansing is necessary to remain healthy. No one cleansing removes all toxins as the detoxification process must be ongoing which is why healthy lifestyle habits are so important.

There are ways to measure toxic accumulation such as the presence of various unpleasant body odors, premature aging, frequent illness and/or disease, using one or many drugs (prescription or otherwise) and other noticeable unhealthy symptoms including costly comprehensive laboratory tests. If any of the evidence above exists, optimal health is not present. There are additional ways to measure optimal health at home which are taught at UHRI. Absent this specific knowledge, a person must use their intuition to assess their general state of health. This is dangerous because the body's senses become more insensitive when toxins accumulate, the immune system falters and illness and disease begins to set up shop. Interesting enough, the healthier a person is the more keen their sense of health and wellbeing becomes and vice versa. Ill health is a state of toxic accumulation that clogs and blunts natural body senses, the lack of which is a symptom of biological impairment. Optimal health is a state of enormous energy, vitality and sense of wellbeing. If a person feels anything less, a state of optimal health isn’t present.

Ill health can be effectively managed and redirected toward optimal health with the following total body cleanse process that can help remove accumulated toxins. Once optimal health is achieved, regular 1-4 annual internal cleansing can help mediate future toxic accumulation. 

Kidney Flush
Completing a kidney cleanse BEFORE cleansing the liver is highly recommended. There are a number of herbal blends that work well for cleansing the kidneys, however the easiest and fastest way to cleanse the kidneys is to drink and/or eat as much fresh cut, blended or juiced watermelon as you can.

Another natural way to effectively clean the kidneys is to blend or juice all or few of the ingredients below keeping in mind that raw, fresh, organic ingredients are best;
Aloe Vera
Celery (top leaves)
Watermelon (including rind, if juicing)

Mix the liquid product from the above with cranberry juice and water to taste preference and drink as soon and as much as possible. While other herbal blends and teas work well, they aren’t as tasty as the natural plant based liquid mix (above) kidney flush. Those who are diabetic should omit apple and watermelon from the above blend or go with the herbal flush to keep the sugar spike and resulting insulin response down.

Kidney Juicing Recipes
#1 – Watermelon Flush
3 cups watermelon

#2 – Apple and Lemon
3 Apples
1/2 lemon

#3 – Parsley Power
2 apples
2 handfuls of parsley

#4 – Apple, Parsley, Lemon, Cranberry, Watermelon 
2 apples
2 handfuls cranberries
2 handfuls parsley
1 lemon
3 cups watermelon

The following supplements are important when doing a kidney flush or cleanse.
Vitamin B6 - is helpful to properly manage urea levels.
Magnesium - and vitamin B6 work together in the body to inhibit and dissolve excess calcium.

The Liver/Gallbladder Flush - Cleanse
1 oz. (2 table-spoons) = Epsom salts (MgSO4 magnesium sulfate)
4 oz. (1/2 cup) Organic Olive Oil
4 oz. (1/2 cup) fresh-squeezed Lemon/Lime/Grapefruit Juice

7 hours before bed, 3 hours following dinner and typically on a Saturday (for an 11 pm bedtime, finish eating dinner by 1 pm).
Take 2 Table-spoons (1 oz.) Epsom salts dissolved in 6 oz. cool water. Then rinse your mouth with water. (Use a "shaker jar" to dissolve the Epsom salts. The taste is much less objectionable with cool water.) Drink more water, as desired as an intestinal purge, and also a muscle relaxant for the bile ducts and the gallbladder, to prevent cramps and retention of gallstones.

Hour 2 (Optional)
Always use this if "stomach cramps" should occur during the liver flush. (This is rare when using Epsom salts. Cramps would indicate that stones are lodged in, and blocking liver ducts.)

However, this step is very beneficial in ALL cases, to stimulate the liver's release of waste and bile.

Begin with several plain, warm-water enemas - then follow with a 4 cup Organic Coffee enema. (Coffee enema explained under colon cleanse next)

Use 1 Table-spoon (1/2 oz.) coffee per cup, drip-filtered. Dissolve 1/2 cup (4 oz.) Epsom salts into the hot coffee, then cool the coffee down to 98 - 100 degrees F. (body temperature) before using. (You can rapidly cool the pan in a sink of cold water.) Retain the coffee enema for 10 - 15 minutes, while relaxing in a reclining position on a floor mat.

Hour 3
Take 1 Table-spoon (1/2 oz.) Epsom salts, dissolved in 4 oz. cool water. Then rinse your mouth with water. Drink more water, as desired...

Hour 4.5 (Optional)
This step is used to increase bile flow, which helps dislodge stones deep in the liver ducts. This step also helps to eliminate hunger. Eat: 8 oz. cream on fresh berries or fruit, mixed. (organic heavy cream, without carrageen an) (frozen berries are optional if necessary) or: These variations have also worked: 8 oz. cream and 6-8 oz. fruit Kefir, mixed or 16-32 oz. vanilla high-fat ice cream. (Quality ice cream, without carrageenan is best)

Hour 7 (Bedtime)
Have the required items prepared: Have a Timer handy, and Alka-Seltzer "GOLD". 

Take 4 oz. (1/2 cup) room-temp organic Olive Oil, followed by 4 oz. fresh-squeezed Lemon Juice.  Olive oil, taken following the above procedure, causes the liver ducts and the gallbladder to forcefully contract, and expel their collection of gall gravel and gallstones. (The acid lemon juice speeds the transit of the olive oil thru the stomach and into the duodenum, which helps prevent or minimize nausea.) Next: Rinse your teeth: Brush them briefly with a Baking Soda solution (or Milk of Magnesia), to neutralize the acid of the lemon juice.

Go to bed, "face down." Pull your right knee fully upwards, towards your right shoulder. Placing a pillow under your left shoulder can help. Now relax into this position, and then shift your weight to your right side. Keep your right knee held fully upwards, to your chest. Using a timer, try to hold this position for 30 minutes (you can briefly stretch your right leg, if necessary.) Gallbladder contractions and expulsion of stones should occur during this period. The gallstone expulsion action can frequently be heard and felt. (Optional, but may help) Massage the gallbladder with finger tips, up under your right ribs. After 30 minutes relax, stretch out, and go to sleep.

If any nausea or acid reflux is felt during the night can be relieved by taking Alka-Seltzer "Gold" in water (the "Gold" type contains no aspirin).

When waking the next morning, do the following: Take 2 Tea-spoons (1/3 oz.) Epsom salts dissolved in 3 oz. cool water. Next, drink 8-12 oz. of water. Later, drink more water or orange juice, as desired. Wait 2-3 hours before eating a light breakfast.

Gallstones come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The presence of any gallstone indicates that a serious chemical imbalance exists in the body. This is another advanced symptom of ill health. A proper liver/gallbladder cleanse will expose the presence of these stones and unmask a serious biochemical imbalance before disease develops. This is another great reason to perform regular internal cleansing. 

Plan to repeat the liver flush at least 6 times, especially when large gallstones (1/2 to 1+ inches across) are expelled or when there is a large volume of stones (more than about 1/4 cup). 

If few or no gallstones are seen great, however this may be a false negative especially on the first cleansing. It may take more than one cleansing to dislodge and get the stones moving at first. Repeat the flush in 4-6 weeks. If there are no stones after two or three liver/gallbladder cleansings, no further cleaning is necessary for a few months depending on diet, behavior and living environment (toxin exposure).

When a large volume of gallstones are seen the liver flush should be repeated in 2 weeks.

Generally, the liver flush is repeated at 2-4 week intervals until the volume of gallstones seen (each time) has been greatly reduced. This can require 10-15 flushes, or more, because the liver will continue pulling cholesterol out of the body, where it may have accumulated for many years or decades.

After the initial series, repeat the liver flush 2-4 times per year, for maintenance depending on the amount of none fresh, raw foods in the diet.

Colon Cleanse – Coffee Enema
A coffee enema improves the detoxification capacities of the liver by increasing the activity of a family of enzymes called gluthione S-transferase (GST) by as much as 7 times that of normal output. A properly performed coffee enema is considered one of the best rapid detoxification processes. 
How do I do an Enema?
1. Connect enema bag with enema tube, and enema tube with enema nozzle.
2. Fill the enema bag with enema liquid.
3. Clamp enema tube.
4. Hang the enema bag at a height of about 3-4 feet (1 - 1.5 m).
5. Lie on your back, on the floor.
6. Lubricate your anus and nozzle with olive oil.
7. Slowly and gently insert the nozzle into your anus. (It is much more comfortable if you lubricate the nozzle).
8. Release the clamp and let the enema liquid flow into the sigmoid colon.
9. Clamp the tubing as soon as there is a sensation of "fullness" or when the enema bag is empty.
10. Remove the nozzle from your anus.
11. If possible, without forcing yourself, retain the enema for 2-10 minutes.
12. Empty your bowel.
13. After emptying your bowel, you can repeat the process.
14. If you cannot hold 1 or 2 cups of enema liquid, take several smaller enemas.

While regular internal cleansing is the cornerstone of a prudent health management plan, few ever learn how to or perform effective internal body cleans (detoxify). Whether to and how often one performs internal cleaning is strictly a personal decision. However, make no mistake, allowing toxic accumulate in the body will lead to illness, disease and not only a shorter life but a less enjoyable and productive life as well. Not that you know many of the secrets of total internal body cleansing, the decision to maintain internal cleanliness is up to you.

As a naturopath, I believe that most if not all illness and diseases are direct byproducts of toxic buildup at the cellular level. It is for this reason that complete internal cleansing (detoxifying) is one of the most important components of achieving and maintaining optimal health. Internal cleansing along with environment, consumptive and behavior habits are among the most important health subjects.
