The gallbladder has been referred to as the trash can for the liver. This
reference can help us understand why an overloaded gallbladder can cause so
many health problems. The gallbladder excretes bile which is an emulsifying
agent that assists in the digestion of fats.

The gallbladder holds metals, chemicals and the many other waste products
filtered from the blood by the liver. The largest supply of waste material
in the gallbladder is cholesterol. Cholesterol serves the internal healing
process, on arterial wall as a type of patching material. The lesions
in arterial walls are formed as a result of excessive stress (high blood pressure) and the loss
of tissue integrity (elasticity) due to aging, cross linking glycation and deficiency of the essential
nutrient food source vitamin C
in the bloodstream. These lesions require repair which summons cholesterol as
the first responder to the lesion/injury site. Cholesterol forms a protective
barrier over the injury site to facilitate healing.
Over time, these stress caused arterial injuries/lesions cause cholesterol formation
and eventually underlying calcification (hardening of the arteries) on the internal arterial
wall. This cholesterol plaque formation can peal and flake away from
the arterial wall. These pieces of arterial plaque normally flow through the bloodstream
until they are filtered out by the liver then transferred and stored in the
gallbladder. Then the gallbladder transfers
this arterial plaque into the intestinal tract for elimination. As this transfer
occurs, sticky, waxy residue forms and is retained
in the gallbladder. As the gallbladder fills with this cholesterol plaque, the
elimination flow from the liver is reduced and can become blocked. The flow of elimination from the liver
continues to be restricted until this
excessive cholesterol is removed from the gallbladder.
This can be done with a process called a gallbladder flush. When performing a
gallbladder flush, it is prudent to closely follow with a liver cleanse. In fact
it is prudent to perform and gallbladder flush and liver cleans 1-2 every year
depending on the amount of unhealthy consumption. On the SAD diet, twice to
three times a year is best.
