Acid & Alkaline - Internal pH Management

First, it's important to understand that the human body knows how to be healthy. It was created and programmed, in most cases, with a vibrant health mandate. Health problems occur when we practice chronically unhealthy habits. How long would a car run well if you never changed the oil or used the wrong fuel? The answer is it wouldn’t run well long, if at all. The human body is a much more dynamic and complex machine than a car but it to will fail if it's chronically abused as is currently the case with most people (over 90%). This is what happens when we behave chronically unhealthy, live in toxic polluted environments, consume unhealthy foods and subject ourselves to constant emotional stress. While it is more difficult to change our environment, we can control, to a large extent, how we behave and what we regularly consume.

The consumption of natural, organic, raw, fresh, live fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains are not only the most nutritious diet but serves to keep the negative byproducts (acid forming chemistry) of respiration, digestion and emotional turmoil (the natural life byproducts of internal biochemistry), in balance to maintain optimal health. Let me say that again, consuming natural, live, fresh food is the way to not only effectively manage internal biochemistry but to gain and maintain optimal health.

Most people currently consume the standard American diet (SAD), which consists of excessive sugar, protein, saturated fat, calories and highly processed foods. These people have an average internal biochemical pH between 5.5-6.5 which is a very unhealthy pH range. This chronic very acid pH state will inevitably lead to many of the illnesses and diseases common in American society today. Internal acidosis (low pH) creates an internal biochemical environment ideal for biological degradation (rapid aging), pathogenic proliferation, illness and disease. Human blood struggles constantly to maintain a narrow pH range close to 7.365 which represents the body’s perfect pH - slightly alkaline. If all body fluids remained close to this pH, the body would remain optimally healthy. The problem is most all the body’s natural biochemical reactions create excess acid and lower internal pH. In short, the body is constantly buffering the effects of internal biochemistry acids back to the slightly alkaline healthy range of 7.365 and optimal health.

If we learn how to consume the right alkaline forming foods we assist the body onto maintaining an optimally healthy pH range. When the body maintains the proper pH range the body’s natural rejuvenating and reparative properties are robust which boosts the body’s natural defenses (immune system).

The trick is to monitor your pH frequently to know when internal acid is forming. Excess internal acids usually form after consumption (digestion), and emotional turmoil. Consuming live, alkaline forming foods will help raise internal pH into the optimum rang. It is important to understand the simple task of proper internal biochemical management is the most effective way to attain and maintain optimal human health.

The solutions to the chronic acidosis problem are;
1. Monitor your pH to know when it turns acid
2. Consume alkaline forming foods and agents to raise and maintain pH in an optimum health rang

ALKALIZING FOODS
Vegetables (natural, raw, fresh, organic is best)
•   Cucumber, cauliflower, celery, garlic, onions, broccoli, carrots
•   Blue-green algae's - spirulina, chlorella
•   Green vegetables - sprouts, kale, spinach, lettuce
•   Green grasses - alfalfa, wheat
Fruits
•   Lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, peach
•   Melons, berries, banana, apple, apricot 
•   Pear, grape, avocado, pineapple, raisin
•   Strawberry, cherry, coconut, date, fig
•   Tropical fruit, rhubarb, tomato

Beer: pH 2.5, Coca-cola: pH 2, Coffee: pH 4
